SPRING FLING by Lake Palen

Flowers and spaghetti-strap dresses are both great for putting one into a spring mindset, so when I learned about The White Pearl's Spring Fling being held on April 26, 2023, I knew I wanted to combine the two.

This cute dress with the daisy pattern is from Safira. It comes in a fatpack with both daisy print and solid options. Panties are built into the dress and are colored separately via the HUD.

To continue the theme, I'm wearing these daisy covered heels from Pure Poison. They come in a fatpack, which offers a lot of control over colors of various parts of the shoes via the included HUD.

Flowers need rain to grow, right? Well, these earrings and necklace from Avaway have that covered. They have adorable, little clouds with gemstone raindrops. Here I am wearing them in gold with white diamonds, but the HUDs offer a variety of color options.

Finally, to top things off, I have one more daisy. This cute hairpin from Magnetic is one of several daisy items available at the store. Ok, make that two more daisies. One more can't hurt, right? Although I am a little concerned about that bee!

MY HAT DAY OUTFIT by Dorothy Reynolds

About a week before Hat day, I decided to begin my search for a hat and outfit with the expectation that I wouldn't find anything until hours before the day started. In my three years of SL (two and a half with a previous avi), I hadn't even contemplated wearing a hat let alone purchase one, and my RL experience was limited to baseball caps and knit winter hats.

A search through the Marketplace turned up something from Wicca;s Wardrobe (Wicca's Originals is the name of the in-world store). Their 'Tiffany Hat (Brown)' Marketplace: Wiccas-Wardrobe-Tiffany-Hat-Brown looked promising, so I purchased a demo. Armed with a good looking hat, I searched Wicca's Wardrobe for an outfit to match... and found nothing.

Some stores don't list everything online, so my next step was to take a visit to Wicca's Originals Inworld: New (11,115,22) and look around for a matching dress. GLAM LOOKS AND BASICS by Andrea Riverview

Much of this will be familiar to many of you, but I always appreciated some basic help when I started. Hope this helps our new fashionistas.

Be sure to watch the weekend sales. The Seraphim website is a great resource, at https://www.seraphimsl.com/

This gown at Dernier was available for 60L on the Happy Weekend sale. Others include the Saturday Sale, Fifty Linden Friday, eBento Weekend, and Wanderlust.

For great gowns, dresses and lingerie, two of my favorites are Sofia and Celestina. By joining their groups and watching, you can find great deals on fabulous looks for low prices.

For shoes that can work with many outfits, be sure to find the ones with color HUDS. I use the KC Couture pumps I found on Marketplace. You can color the shoes, sole, heel and inner to match almost anything, although the basic black works great.

Makeup can certainly add to your look. My favorite mesh heads come from Lelutka and Catwa. I usually wear the Nova evoX head from Lelutka. Their HUD comes with a great basic set of HD lashes, eyeshadows and lipsticks. Also included are skin variations, lash variations, and BOM eyes. I like to use the eyes from Yoshi. That shop also has some great gift eye sets for Lelutka and Catwa.

Beyond the basis Lelutka makeup, I like to add other skins. I've been using the Ruby Rose Kiss skin from Koonz. They also provide neck blends if you're having problems with a neck line. That isn't so much of a problem with the Maitreya V5.3. For pics, using a windlight like CaIWL works great.

Then you can also add other evoX makeup. Some of the shops I like include Sugarose, Velour, Goreglam and Nuve.

Anyway, hope that helps. Watch the sales. Experiment. And of course, demo, demo, demo.

For a bit of a change I went for a much younger look than I normally wear. I saw someone wearing this little number and thought how cute it looked. Couldn't resist scanning her and seeing who the designer was. Always feel guilty when I scan people, but how else, other than this blog, would I get ideas.

WEARABLE STREET ART by Lake Palen

Today's featured dress has received so many compliments, I just had to show it off here. The Graffiti dress comes from LOON and is made with prints of real life artwork by owner JiPe Loon. LOON is not a traditional clothing store. This new release is the only clothing item offered. Everything else is furniture or sculpture.

The dress comes in three versions, each of which has a color HUD with eight options. It is also offered in a discounted fatpack containing all three versions.

The cut of the dress, while quite short, covers one's private areas. However the prints on the fabric make all three versions quite provocative. One features a photo of a topless avatar, while the other two show graffiti representations of body parts: nipples, navels, genitals and buttocks.

For footwear, I have chosen mules by Utopia@Design that I have dyed to match, using the color picker in the included HUD. In addition to being great shoes, most of the Utopia@Design footwear HUDs have color pickers on an "Advanced" tab that can be used to tint the shoes to match any outfit. (Hint: Color the parts white using the "Preset" or "Texture" tab in the HUD before trying to tint it with the color picker on the "Advanced" tab.)

Many of my favorite accessories include hearts in some form. These earrings from Magnetic have a small heart hoop hanging from a larger one. The included HUD has six metal options. For those with pierced noses, a matching nose ring is included. A color pack version of these earrings is also available.

SUN AND SAND by Lake Palen

It is spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and with warmer temperatures come pool parties, visits to beaches, and days at the lake.* Today's outfit would be at home in any of these scenarios.

This bikini from Happy Undead is sold as a fatpack with a HUD for choosing colors and hiding or showing the bows. Not only does the HUD have 36 preselected colors, it also has a color picker for even more options..

Some will be interested to know that the Maitreya version of this bikini comes with both smooth and bulge options for the bottoms, while the top fits standard Lara as well as the Petite, Flat, and V-Tech add-ons. It also fits Legacy and Legacy Perky but without the bulge option.

I like to pair this swimsuit with these cute wedge thongs from Reign. They come in a fatpack with a HUD to choose colors for the uppers, the flowers, and the platforms. Also, these are modifiable. With some patience, it is possible to manually tint the shoes with the normal SL edit dialog. (Hint: Color the part white in the HUD before trying to tint it in the edit dialog.)

I kept things simple with this outfit, adding only a pair of heart hoop earrings from CSJ Design as accessories.

EASTER BUNNY - GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN by Jyoti Rane

This sexy little number is inspired by the iconic bunny costumes design by Zelda Wynn Valdes for the formal opening of the first Playboy Club in 1960. The Bunnies were designated roles, they could be Door Bunny, a Cigarette Bunny, a Floor Bunny or a Playmate Bunny. Which role do you want play????

The Easter bunny tradition started many centuries before Playboy magazine hit the top shelf. While its exact origins are clouded by time. One possible theory is that the symbol of the rabbit stems from pagan tradition, specifically the festival of Eostre - a goddess of fertility whose animal symbol was a bunny. Rabbits, known for their energetic breeding, have traditionally symbolized fertility.

Girls whatever helps to burn off a couple extra calories from eating all those cream eggs I'll be your Playmate Bunny!

AN INDIAN BRIDE - KANCHI SAREE by Jyoti Rane

The second post in the India traditional womens clothes series showcases the beautiful Kanchipuram silk sari from the Kanchipuram region in Tamil Nadu. This style dates back centuries too when these sarees were woven in temples. The distinctive features are the exquisitely woven boarders and pallu in a contrasting colour with heavy gold weaving, created by silk threads dipped in liquid gold or silver. These are combined with three other threads to give these sarees strength and a luxurious feel. The perfect saree to worn on a special occasion, A South Indian bride is incomplete without a kanchipuram saree in her bottom drawer.

I have completed the outfit with a manga tikka, head jewelry, that symbolizes the chakra, the third eye. This is believed to help concentration, activating knowledge, wisdom, courage, and will power. The origin is a bit gruesome. The legend is that a victorious king would smear the blood of his enemy on the queens forehead, including the parting of her hair. The manga tikka is mandatory for a bride to wear on her wedding day. It covers the Agya Chakra, signifying the couples holy union on a spiritual, physical and emotional level. This is teamed with ear cuffs, a symbol of wealth and status in ancient times.

The bangles in green are only worn by married women and they symbolize auspiciousness.

LITTLE BLACK DRESS, PART II by Lake Palen

See my previous post: Little Black Dress, Part I

As in my post last week, today's take on the LBD comes from Corvus, a store known particularly for it's darker themed creations. Where last week's turtleneck dress provided a lot of coverage, this strapless mini shows a good bit more skin while still being modest enough that you will not be embarrassed to wear it, although I do suggest adding some BoM panties.

For a while, this has been my most frequently worn dress. I like the lines created by the gathering of the fabric via the laces running down the sides, which end in bows tied at the hemline. This adds some nice visual interest that differentiates it from many strapless sheaths.

I've paired it with high-heeled mules from Utopia@Design. The shoes and boots from Utopia@Design are sold in fatpacks for a very reasonable price. The included HUDs offer a variety of pre-selected color combinations but also allow you to choose colors for the different parts of the shoe. Most of the ones I have also let you select custom tints via a color picker, so you can dye your shoes to match any outfit.

I've rounded out this outfit with a few accessories. The earrings are caged hearts with tiny locks from EarthStones. Also from EarthStones is a poison locket ring that doubles as a tiny photo album capable of storing more than one hundred photos. Finally, I'm wearing a locket from a multiple layered necklace by (Yummy).
